With or Without Breast Lift
Breast augmentation is a transformative procedure that can increase the size and reshape your breasts, but it doesn’t address the issue of sagging breasts. For this reason, many patients opt for a breast lift procedure in conjunction with an augmentation. A breast lift, also known as mastopexy, can tighten the skin and give a more youthful, perky appearance. Combining a breast lift with saline or silicone implants not only enhances the size and shape of the breasts but also effectively lifts sagging breasts to create a more aesthetically pleasing silhouette. If you’re looking for a comprehensive solution to both breast volume and sagging issues, a breast lift with augmentation is an ideal choice to achieve your desired results.
With or Without Reduction
Breast augmentation with breast reduction is a combination procedure that can address both issues of inadequate breast volume and excessive breast tissue. This procedure requires highly specialized skills and experience, and Dr. Keusch has a strong track record of successful breast surgeries. During this procedure, she will first remove excess breast tissue and skin to reduce the size of the breasts. Then, breast implants will be inserted to add volume and achieve the desired breast size and shape. This dual approach results in a more proportionate and aesthetically pleasing breast contour while also alleviating discomfort associated with large breasts.
With or Without Internal Bra
Breast augmentation with an internal bra is an advanced surgical technique that involves using a supportive mesh or sling material to provide additional support to breast implants. This technique can be particularly beneficial for women with thin or weak breast tissue, or those who have previously experienced implant displacement or sagging. The internal bra creates a structure that can support the implants and maintain their position, reducing the risk of implant malposition or bottoming out. The procedure is usually performed in conjunction with traditional breast augmentation surgery and can improve the longevity and overall appearance of the implants. The internal bra technique demands a high level of skill and proficiency from a board-certified plastic surgeon, so it’s important to choose one with expertise and mastery of cosmetic breast procedures. Silicone vs Saline
Dr. Cristina Keusch recommends Natrelle implants by Allergan, available in saline and silicone.
Saline implants may feel firmer than human breast tissue, while silicone implants may look and feel more natural. Because saline implants are inserted empty, the incision line may be smaller than with silicone implants.
Silicone Breast Implants
Silicone implants feature a silicone case and filling, made with material that feels remarkably similar to human fat. Natrelle implants come in five profiles ranging from low to ultra-full projection. Dr. Keusch will guide patients in choosing the best implant based on their body structure and aesthetic goals.
Saline Breast Implants
Saline implants have an outer shell made of silicone but are filled with a salt water solution. The empty silicone shell is inserted through an incision and then filled with saline after being moved into the desired position. Saline-filled breast implants offer you fullness that ranges from low to moderate to high.

Breast Augmentation Incisions
Breast Augmentation Incision Locations
The other two types, inframammary and transaxillary, leave scarring that is more visible and harder to cover up. Inframammary incisions are created at the base of the breast, where the breast tissue folds and meets with the torso. This approach will leave a scar that will be visible upon inspection. However, it may be less visible for women who have larger breasts and deeper folds of their breast tissue. Transaxillary incisions are made through a skin crease in the underarm. The breast implant is then inserted through the incision and a channel that is made to reach the breast tissue. WIth this approach, you can expect to have scarring in the underarm.
While there is no additional risk or impact to sensory abilities with any given incision type, it’s important to understand and evaluate your options when consulting with a plastic surgeon.
Recovery After Surgery
Breast Augmentation Recovery
For the first few days after surgery, patients will need to rest and avoid any strenuous activity. Patients are advised to avoid lifting heavy objects and performing any activities that may strain the chest muscles.
After about a week, patients will have a follow-up appointment with Dr. Keusch to monitor progress and remove any sutures or drains if needed. At this point, most patients can resume light activities but should continue to avoid any strenuous exercise such as running or heavy lifting.
It may take several weeks to a few months for the swelling to fully subside, and for the implants to settle into their final position. However, most patients are able to resume normal activities about two months after breast implant surgery.
