HOW DOES LIPOSUCTION WORK?

Liposuction can be performed under local anesthesia or sedation anesthesia, depending on the individual treatment plan. Dr. Keusch uses the most specialized techniques available, including SmartLipo, combining laser treatment of the tissues to melt the fat and tighten skin, followed by fat removal with a cannula for fat removal. Only small incisions are used for liposuction, leaving behind a noticeably improved contour.

Who is a Good Candidate for Liposuction?

You’re a good candidate for liposuction if you have stubborn pockets of body fat that won’t respond to diet and/or exercise. All patients should be nonsmokers with realistic expectations for their procedure. You should be as close as possible to your realistic baseline weight to be a candidate for liposuction.

What Results Will I See?

Patients can expect to see results within weeks after the surgery, with final results at 6 months. Results will include a more contoured and sleeker appearance, with noticeable inch loss. You’ll also be able to fit into your clothes more comfortably.

What is the Recovery Like?

The majority of your recovery will take place over four weeks, during which you may need to wear compression garments to help minimize bruising and swelling at the treatment site. Massage is highly recommended during this recovery phase. You may be cleared to return to work after just a few days; strenuous exercise can be resumed as soon as one week after your liposuction procedure in most cases.

Throughout your liposuction recovery, you’ll have regular check-ins with Dr. Keusch to ensure your recovery is successful.
