You’re a good candidate for the lower body lift if you have sagging skin that’s particularly visible on the stomach, upper thighs, and other mid-body regions. You’re a candidate for the upper body lift if you have skin roles along the bra fat areas of the back. This sagging may be a result of aging or of significant weight loss; whatever the reason, the ideal candidate should be a nonsmoker who is committed to continuing with a healthy lifestyle.
Results can be life-changing, especially for patients who may feel self-conscious about sagging skin along the torso. After about 8 to 12 weeks (when the majority of swelling has gone down), you’ll notice that your body appears sleeker and more contoured. Some patients may even see several inches lost around their stomachs as a result of having excess skin removed.
The majority of the recovery period takes about six to eight weeks, as this is a larger surgical procedure. During the first week, you should expect to minimize movement; for example, you’ll be prevented from lifting anything heavier than five pounds. You should plan on having support at home to help you manage day-to-day tasks, as you should spend most of your time recuperating. You should be cleared to return back to work within one to two weeks, depending on your job role. You may be cleared by Dr. Keusch to resume normal exercise at or around the six-week mark. Throughout your recovery, you’ll have regular check-ins with us to ensure your recovery is successful.
