women jawline with Volux XC Filler

As we age, our facial profile changes.  Skin stretches and loses its resiliency.  Fine lines and wrinkles develop as the skin sags.  The jawline begins to soften and lose definition, creating less separation between the jawline and the neck.

Dermal filler is a nonsurgical procedure that helps restore definition and adds a sharper angle to the jawline.  Treatment doesn’t take long, and there is very little downtime.  Dr. Keusch recommends Juvederm® Volux® XC to treat the jawline.

Why We Love Volux®

Juvederm® Volux® is part of the Allergen line of dermal fillers that we love at Boca Raton Plastic Surgery Center.  These fillers contain hyaluronic acid and are designed to help add natural looking volume to key facial areas.  This is essential since our body produces less of its own hyaluronic acid as we age.  Volux® became available in early 2023 as the only FDA approved hyaluronic filler to improve lost definition at the jawline.

How does Volux® work?

Dermal Filler for Men, Jawline

The filler gel is injected into the jawline with a very thin needle.  The hyaluronic acid helps rehydrate the skin, which plumps it, adds contour, and smooths fine lines and wrinkles.  The gel also contains lidocaine, which reduces discomfort from the injection.  A topical numbing cream can also be used before the injection.

Are there side effects?

Most side effects are mild to moderate and are usually reactions at the injection site.  There may be swelling, tenderness, redness, itching, bruising, firmness, and bumps.  These temporary issues usually resolve in two weeks or less.  Bacterial infections are rare.

How long will Juvederm® Volux® XC last?

Patients should see an immediate and noticeable difference after treatment.  Added definition at the jawline restores structure and shape for a more youthful appearance.  Although jawline fillers produce temporary results, Juvederm® Volux® XC lasts up to a year and sometimes a little longer.  Over time, the body breaks down and absorbs the filler, so retreatment of the area will be necessary to maintain a more contoured appearance.
