How Does Breast Symmetry Work?
Breast symmetry surgery works in a similar way to breast augmentation; however, rather than focusing on increasing the bust size, the main goal of the surgery is to align the breasts so that they appear more symmetrical.
Breast symmetry surgery may include breast augmentation, breast lift, or breast reduction. These surgical techniques allow Dr. Keusch to access the breast tissue so she can resculpt it into a more symmetrical appearance. Excess skin is usually removed during this surgery to accommodate the new shape; additionally, the nipple may be repositioned to align with the new breasts. The entire procedure takes a couple of hours to perform, during which the patient will be under general anesthesia.
Who Is a Good Candidate For Breast Symmetry?
You’re a good candidate for breast symmetry if you are unhappy with the appearance of your breasts due to asymmetry (one breast is much larger or lower than the other, your breasts appear flat, etc). All patients should be nonsmokers with realistic expectations for their procedure.
