For many women, the answer is a resounding yes!  They are not happy with their bodies and view breast augmentation as a way to improve their looks.  Breast augmentation enhances the size and shape of the breasts.  Women choose breast augmentation for a number of reasons.  Some women are embarrassed by small breasts that never developed to their expectations.  Other women have asymmetrical breasts.  The size or shape doesn’t match in some respect and may be noticeable in swim suits, tank tops, and other clothing.  These women may have difficulty finding clothes that fit right.  There are others whose breasts have changed substantially following childbirth and nursing.  These women long to have their pre-pregnancy body back.  Cancer survivors may want to restore the appearance of a breast following a mastectomy.  Whatever the reason behind the choice for breast augmentation, it can certainly affect self-esteem in a positive way.

Top Cosmetic Surgery

Breast augmentation has been the leading cosmetic surgery procedure in the U.S. for several years.  It is one of the most requested procedures at Boca Raton Plastic Surgery Center.  Dr. Keusch recommends Natrelle implants by Allergan for her patients.  The implants are available in saline and silicone.  Dr. Keusch will guide patients in selecting the best profile based on their body frame, condition of the breast tissue, current size, and the patient’s goals.  Choosing a correctly sized implant is essential in achieving a natural look that is in the right proportion for the women’s body size and shape.

Who is a good candidate?

Ideal candidates should have realistic expectations for their procedure.  They should be a non-smoker in good health with no history of high blood pressure, bleeding disorders, or medical conditions that would put them at risk during surgery.  Their weight should be stable.  The patient should have a good understanding of the recovery process.

Recovery Time

The average recovery time for breast augmentation surgery is six weeks, during which heavy lifting and strenuous activity are not advised.  Some pain, tenderness, and swelling are common for two to three weeks around the incisions.  A bra must be worn at all times for support.  Most patients should plan to take at least a week off from work to rest and heal at home.
