Levulon and BLU-U Light Therapy
Levulon, or Levulinic acid, potentiates the effect of light. Levulon has been FDA approved to treat keratoses. It has also been shown to significantly improve the effects of sun damage and aging including wrinkles, blochy pigmentation, and poor skin texture. The effects may be mild to moderate, such as erythema and peeling. Photo sensitization occurs for up to 72 hours. Sun protection is therefore required in the early posttreatment phase.
